Congratulations to PCTC Pre-Engineering students who competed and won 1st place in the regional Manufacturing Innovation Challenge through the WVMA. PCTC students partnered with Toyota WV to assist in solving an ergonomic issue; making the manufacturing process easier for their team members. Competition leaders said this group is a model for future competitions! The student team included PHS students AJ Dunbar and Brett Winter, along with Connor Bush (HHS), and Jacob Ingram (WHS).
The students worked with Toyota Engineers to design an end of arm robot tool that can be used to pull/push an engine as part of a process for a Team Member. The robot is a collaborative robot which is used to assist, rather than replace, a Team Member. The goal was to introduce the students to manufacturing and the engineering design process.
the students won the 2023 Outstanding Kanawha Valley Region Award and will advance to the state competition in May. Wish them luck!
