April 15, 2015, Leesburg, Va. — SkillsUSA is recognizing 24 of its school chapters as its very best with the first Models of Excellence awards. “These chapters define excellence, and their best practices will serve as models for other chapters to emulate in strengthening their local programs,” said SkillsUSA’s executive director, Tim Lawrence. “We commend these chapters’ impressive accomplishments.” The awards are the pinnacle of the national organization’s new Chapter Excellence Program (CEP), which honors chapter achievement relative to SkillsUSA’s framework of developing personal, workplace and technical skills grounded in academics. Honored at the 2015 SkillsUSA conference, Mrs. Foster is the first from her state to receive the Advisor of the Year award. “Maybe I am doing something a little bit special or above and beyond. PCTC student Winter Davis was recognized by the West Virginia Board of Education for her "unparalleled performance and exemplary dedication to becoming a highly skilled Career & Technical Education graduate." Her attitude, efforts, and achievements were first noticed by a WVDE employee, who brought them to the attention of Dr. Kathy D'Antoni, Assistant State Superintendent. Winter served as the keynote speaker at the 2015 PCTC graduation ceremony. Upon receiving her award, Winter shared her graduation speech with the board members and other esteemed guests who were in attendance.
